Camberwell Kindergarden and Childcare Centre, Company

Camberwell Child Care Centre was opened in March 1978 by the Honourable Andrew Peacock, M.P. In 1974, Camberwell Council identified the need to provide child care for families living or working in the Camberwell area. A site on Trafalgar Road was identified and reserved for the construction of the Centre. Construction commenced in February 1977 and was completed in February 1978. The building was state of the art at the time, with features such as in floor heating and modern bathroom and kitchen facilities. The Centre was to provide Child-Minding for fifty pre-school age children in four different play rooms (arranged in order of the children’s ages). When opened, the Centre operated fifty weeks a years from 7.00am to 6.00pm. The Centre has always been a community based centre, encouraging close links between staff and families. In 2008 CKCC Committee of Management decided to change the centre's name from Camberwell Early Child Care Centre to Camberwell Kindergarten and Child Care Centre to promote the structured Kindergarten program that is offered for 11 children aged 4-5 years old. Hours of Operation CKCC is open 7.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. The centre is closed on public holidays, one professional development day as nominated by CKCC, and for two-weeks over the Christmas / New Year period. Fees Full-time (5 days) $325.00 a week for each child Part-time (2 to 4 days) $67.00 a day for each child One day $72.00 a day for each child Please note that fees will be applied on public holidays, but will not be applied when the Centre closes over the Christmas break and Staff's Professional Development Day. When another child takes your child's day, a reduced fee will apply to cover the cost of administration.
